vandergloom: accidental alphabet custom typeface and event poster
vandergloom is a custom typeface developed through the exploration of found letterforms in the real world, inspired by the ornate elegance of the Rococo era. using textures, curves, and unexpected shapes from everyday surroundings. I constructed a full decorative alphabet. to bring Vandergloom to life, I designed an event poster that showcases the typeface’s dramatic personality and expressive detail, blending classical influence with modern visual storytelling. what i was working with // found textures and letterforms pulled from the world — no grids, no templates, just visual scavenging what stuck with me // building a typeface is about rules — breaking, inventing, and committing to them what came out of it // a dramatic, decorative alphabet and expressive poster that blend rococo influence with modern energy
