LORE: nostalgia tv
created for the launch of lore, a fictional cozy and nostalgic cartoon network, this piece celebrates the magic of classic saturday morning (or any day) cartoons, from 70s to early 2000s. the project centered on developing a warm, inviting brand identity that evokes comfort, family, and the joy of rediscovery. the animation was built entirely in after effects, blending modern motion design techniques with retro-inspired visuals. textures, color palettes, and transitions were carefully chosen to feel timeless and familiar — echoing the experience of flipping on the tv and finding your favorite cartoons waiting. what i was working with // the task was to create a signature brand animation that would define lore’s identity at launch. we developed a visual language rooted in nostalgia but flexible enough to grow as the network expands. from storyboarding to animation, every step focused on building a foundation for storytelling that connects across generations. what stuck with me // finding the right balance between vintage and modern was key. it wasn’t just about animating assets; it was about evoking memory and emotion through motion, making viewers feel like they were stepping into a familiar world while still discovering something exciting and new. what came out of it // a fully realized brand animation that serves as the centerpiece for lore’s fictional launch. it’s used across marketing, streaming intros, and presentations, helping set the tone for the network and its future storytelling. link to video: https://vimeo.com/1124703564?share=copy
